Association of Avian Veterinarians

Archaeopteryx has been a student chapter of the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV) since 2015. The AAV is an international professional organization dedicated to promoting the health, welfare and conservation of birds. To achieve this they stimulate the development of bird medicine.

 

The student chapter of Archaeopteryx currently consists of the members of the Bird working group. If you want to join the student chapter, you must be in the Bird working group. If you are interested in this, you can contact the chairman of the Bird working group.

Student membership AAV

 

In addition to being able to join the student chapter of Archaeopteryx, you can also be a student member of the AAV. The membership costs $ 10 a year. As a student member you enjoy the following benefits:

  • Access to online lectures on bird medicine (theoretical, but also practical videos about handling, blood sampling, etc.)

  • Access to online publications (books, brochures, articles, etc.)

  • Access to an online discussion platform

  • Access to a database for internships, externships and resicencies

  • Scholarships for externships

  • Possible participation in the annual student manuscript competition

  • Opportunities to participate as a lab assistant

  • Opportunities to participate in the student committee of the AAV

FAQ

Can I take out a student membership even though I don't have a credit card?

Yes, that's possible. If the credit card is a problem for you upon registration, you can send a message to the chairman of the Bird Working Group. Together we will ensure that your payment to the AAV is in order.

The AAV sponsored the lustrum symposium on February 5, 2019. At that time, the AAV gave a lecture on ophthalmology in birds by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Korbel from Munich. This lecture was funded by the AAV.
